Even in the cleanest stable, our horses and we are exposed to bacteria, viruses, and fungi every day. There’s no escaping them, as they can be literally everywhere: in the stable, bedding, or on horses’ coats. Their omnipresence makes them the cause of chronic skin irritations and allergies. Winderen has repeatedly observed the effects of microbial activity on horses. The problem seemed extremely important to Winderen, so they began looking for technology that would effectively mitigate it. Ultimately, they focused on silver ions, which have a well-documented broad spectrum of activity. Additionally, it is possible to permanently incorporate them into equipment that comes into direct contact with the horse’s delicate skin.

Material impregnated with silver ions - what are its advantages?

Most fabrics containing nanosilver are impregnated with it. This makes the ions easily washable during use, and the material loses its properties after just a few washes. The technologically advanced fabric that Winderen uses to create its NanoSilver series of products was made to a special order, strictly according to our guidelines. A stable and good material has been obtained by incorporating nanosilver particles directly into the yarn. This makes it possible to create an effective protective barrier without releasing ions onto the skin surface. What’s more, the fabric is exceptionally durable – after 100 washes, it loses a maximum of 5% of its properties! At the same time, its structure effectively wicks away sweat and moisture, promotes hygiene, prevents chafing, and provides excellent thermoregulation.

The skin on the back is extremely delicate and prone to chafing. The saddle pad rests directly on the horse's back every day and remains in contact with the body, which heats up and sweats during exercise. Special attention should be paid to chestnut horses and those with white markings on their backs, as their skin is pink and thus weaker and particularly susceptible to irritation. Under the saddle pad during training, a warm and humid environment is created, where pathogens multiply rapidly.
