Fager bits - Sebastian - Sweet Iron - Weymouth - 5cm
Sebastian's mouthpiece is designed to be a comfortable, high-port curb bit. It is made from grey Sweet Iron.
Sweet Iron encourages a young or unbalanced horse to accept the bit and carry it correctly.
Fager Sebastian is a good choice if you would describe your horse as follows:
- Young or unbalanced.
- Sensitive to tongue pressure.
- Unwilling to relax into a curb bit.
- Needs more room for the bridoon.
- Has a small mouth shape, smaller than average.
- Sensitive mouth and easily gets sores, cuts, and rubs at the corners of the mouth.
- Goes behind the bit with other curb bits.
In Sebastian's design, the port is bent forward, directly above the tongue. This makes a huge difference compared to a bend that is tilted upwards. When the bit's curve is tilted forward, it gives the tongue more freedom and also more space for the bridoon.
A Smoother Feel
When the reins are taken up and the horse seeks contact with the bit, it is better for the tongue to bear most of the pressure rather than the sides of the mouth.
When pressure is applied to the reins, the shank of the bit turns back towards the horse's chest, pushing the mouthpiece forward against the tongue. The use of a curb chain is important for distributing pressure evenly between the mouth, poll, and chin.
Sebastian comes with a curb chain and its hooks.
